A legend in Kansas City, sportscaster Jack Harry has been covering sports in the area for the past 32 years. Jack joined NBC Action News in June of 2002 and was named Sports Director shortly thereafter. As Sports Director, Jack covers sports for the 6 p.m. and 10 p.m. newscasts on NBC Action News, and hosts 38 Sports Spot on sister station 38 The Spot.

Prior to joining NBC Action News, Harry was Sports Director at KCTV where he'd served in the position since 1978. In the early years of his career, Harry served as Sports Director at WDAF, a position he held from 1970-73. He started his broadcasting career in Quincy, Illinois working as a disc jockey for WGEM and as Sports Director at KHQA-TV.

Over the course of his career, Harry has been play-by-play announcer for a number of athletic events, hosted various sports shows, served as a sporting analyst, and covered numerous World Series games, Final Four tournaments, and PGA Tournaments. Long time Chiefs fans will remember Harry as host of the Hank Stram Show, and subsequently the Marv Levy Show.

In addition to being Sports Director at NBC Action News, Jack can be heard on Sports Radio 810 WHB as a weekly guest commentator on Between the Lines with Kevin Kietzman, and as host of a weekly Chiefs post game show.

Leon Liebl

An Emmy Award winning sports journalist, Leon Liebl has been with NBC Action News since March of 2003. He currently is the weekend sports anchor and co-host of the 38 Sports Spot.

Before coming to Kansas City, he was a sports and news anchor for 12 years at KSNW-TV in Wichita. He’s won Emmys for sports and news reporting plus an Edward R. Murrow Award for featuring reporting.

A graduate of the University of Kansas, Leon grew up in Dodge City, Kansas where he also attended Dodge City Community College. In 2003, he was named the school’s distinguished Alumnus.

As a kid, Leon was a big fan of the Royals and Chiefs. In fact, he was even able to sneak into the 7th game of the 1985 World Series. Now, they let him in with a press pass.

When he’s not working, Leon enjoys golf, traveling and reading and of course, watching sports.

Lance Veeser

Lance contributes to the 6 p.m. and 10 p.m. newscasts on NBC Action News, as well the 38 Sports Spot. Lance is new to Kansas City, but not to the Midwest. He spent more than two years as the Sports Director at KSNT-TV in Topeka. During that time, he covered many local teams very closely. Lance says there's been no greater thrill in his career than opening day at the K, Sundays at Arrowhead stadium or watching the Big 12 schools battle it out in ANY sport.

Prior to moving to Topeka, Lance worked as a sports reporter/photographer in Huntington, West Virginia, home of the Marshall Thundering Herd. Lance played baseball at Marshall. Although his college career went well, he realized he would need another way to make it to the Major Leagues.

As expected, Lance is a sports nut. He loves watching sports, playing sports or even training for sports. No matter what sport you love, chances are Lance will be covering it at some point.
